The coronavirus pandemic has put the whole world in danger and took many lives along the way. Things are not looking pretty right now, but we must remain positive and try to see the silver lining. After all, we’re still alive and we gotta make the most out of our own lives. Being here is a privilege, so let’s make it count!
What we learned from the pandemic
1 – Appreciate what you have
One of the most positive lessons we learned from the pandemic is that we need to be grateful for what we have.
Not every person is able to do that right now. Your grandfather has probably been to war, maybe he didn’t even return home. He may not have chosen to go, but had to serve so that you and your parents could live in a better world today.
Maybe you know someone who has been to war, maybe it wasn’t your grandfather. The thing is: every generation has its own struggles and achievements. So be grateful for what you have today, for being alive, for being able to use the internet!
2 – Stay grounded in the present
It’s hard to stay focused when things don’t go as planned, but that’s life. Things won’t always go the way you want them to be and the future is uncertain. But fear not! It’s important to keep yourself grounded in the present. Enjoy what you have because these little moments in time won’t come back at all. If things are rough, try to take a while and breathe. Find inner peace to deal with problems and look at the silver lining.
3 – Stay positive
Amid chaos, there is hope. Even when things look grim and unbearable, you’re set to find the silver lining and take a lesson out of what is going on. The Coronavirus Pandemic has taught us that we’re not as invincible as we usually imagine ourselves. We got to stand together and do our part in order to fix and heal the world. Otherwise, we will be doomed.
Religious differences don’t matter. Political sides don’t matter. Wars won’t take us anywhere. A single virus can break our economies, take our loved ones and make us suffer. In order to prevail, we need to take care of each other starting NOW.
4 – Try not to keep your mind so full
What are you thinking about right now? Keeping your mind always full is not a good thing. You need to clear your thoughts and let things flow. This is the only way to let new thoughts and ideas come and find a home inside your head. Turn off the news for a while, forget about what’s going on outside and focus on what’s happening in your home. Are you happy?
Can you be happy with what you have at the moment? What do you need to be happy?
This is definitely one of the most positive lessons we learned from the pandemic.
5 – Bad thoughts will always exist, but you can control them
We’re always having some bad thoughts at the end of the day. It’s hard not to worry about our jobs, savings and loved ones. There will be questions and rough moments, but it’s important to keep in mind that you’re in control of your thoughts and not the other way around.
Trying to block these bad thoughts isn’t healthy. Let yourself feel them! And then let them go. Don’t keep them inside your head. Doubts and anxiety are like poison for the mind and the body. You’ll start having physical symptoms and won’t know what to do unless you let these thoughts go.
The only thing you have to keep in mind is that everything changes and change can be amazing. It may not seem that way right now, but in time things will be ok.
6 – Life is meant to be lived
We’re so crazy about our achievements that we tend to forget that live is meant to be lived. It’s not about doing things or being like other people, but about being HAPPY.
You don’t need to get rich at your twenties. You don’t need to be like that successful cousin of yours at an early age. You can take your time to solve your problems and figure out what you really want. Stop listening to what other people want from you and start hearing your inner voice a little more.
What is that you want? What have you got right now and how happy does that make you?
7 – You’re the center of your own universe
You gotta focus on taking care of yourself. Sure, there are people around you that love you and will do everything to see you happy. But that happiness, that change has to start from the inside out, not the other way around.
When we’re at peace with ourselves, we can be at peace with others. Our relationships grow healthier and better, our friends tend to get closer to us and our families live in harmony.
Focus on yourself and try to be the best version of yourself by just doing what you love and being happy about it. Only then you will be able to make other people happy. Oh, and do not forget: it’s not about what other people say, it’s about what you really want!
8 – It’s time to try out new things
One of the most valuable lessons we learned from the pandemic is that now it is time to try out new things. What about that hobby that you’ve long forgotten? That course you’ve always wanted to take, but didn’t have enough time to do so?
Learn how to paint, practise your singing, find out what you’re really good at. People are losing their jobs all around the world, but they’re also discovering new ways to work and to develop different careers.
This can make a huge difference in your life. Maybe, you’ll see yourself working from home a lot more from now on, not just because you need, but because you actually want to! Find and develop your hidden abilities in order to be happier, to get a new job or to skip some time after work or school.
