Please, don’t fall for that cheap talk that eating healthy is more expensive than eating bad stuff. I mean, how can that be even possible? Are fast foods costing less than fruit and vegetables nowadays? It’s very unlikely.

The thing about healthy eating is that it usually isn’t that easy. You want to do it, you feel like doing it, but you don’t know where to start and the beginning is always rough. But fear not, as the following tips will be helpful.

1 – Healthy eating also means drinking more water

How many glasses of water have you had today? Certainly not enough to have a healthy life. Go get one, now!

One of the most important things regarding healthy habits is not getting dehydrated, which is something a lot more common than you can imagine. Dehydrated people don’t go straight to the hospital because they lack water in their bodies. On the other hand, symptoms like headache, dizziness, feeling a lot more tired or sleepy than normal, having your skin and mouth dry and many others may indicate something is wrong, and it’s likely due to dehydration.

Drink water – alcoholic beverages do not work at all – and avoid sugary soft drinks. Sugar is not your friend here, alright?

2 – Green is your friend, go for fruit and vegetables!

Nature provides with a lot of tasty food in the shape of fruit and vegetables. Healthy eating depends a lot on them and it’s not too late to start eating those juicy plums or oranges or…Whatever fruit you feel like eating right now.

It is recommended that you eat 5 portions of fruit and vegetables every day. But you can also drink fruit juice to make things even easier (these healthy eating tips are just lovely, aren’t they?).

Be careful with juices, though. They can be pretty sugarish, but they also damage your teeth (yes, the rhyme was absolutely intended).

3 – Thank you for the fish

Not everybody likes fish, and if you are a vegetarian, this might be a stretch. Still, it’s good for your health to eat those nice looking sea and river friends. Go for 2 portions of fish a week and at least 1 portion of oily fish (this one portion is what prevents you from heaving a heart attack).

Salmon, herring, trout, sardines, pilchards and mackerel are good examples of oily fish. If you are still unsure about how to start eating healthy food, schedule a consultation with your nutritionist and ask for a diet that fits your needs.
